Welcome to the Bethel Elementary Guidance Webpage, my name is Elizabeth Murphy and I am the school counselor for Bethel Elementary School. This is my fifth year working at Bethel. Previously I worked as a school counselor in New Hampshire for three years. I love working and living in Gloucester, what a wonderful community.
Whenever I tell people what my profession is they always ask, “What exactly does an elementary school counselor do?” It seems that most people do not remember having an elementary school counselor when they were young.
As the counselor at Bethel I meet with students individually or in groups. I teach guidance lessons on a variety of topics. I complete observations for our special education students, I am part of our school’s Response To Intervention Team (RTI), and I am the School Testing Coordinator. All of these jobs keep me very busy but I love what I do and I love working with children.
